Professional Engineer, Qualified Person
Irfan Khan is a Professional Engineer, serving in the role of Qualified Person (QPESA) and providing senior-level engineering oversight across the firm’s environmental consulting services. Based in Thorold, Ontario, Irfan supports regulatory compliance, technical review, and professional sign-off for environmental assessments, soil management programs, and related environmental approvals.
In his role as Qualified Person, Irfan provides guidance on the application of Ontario Regulation 153/04 and Ontario Regulation 406/19, supporting Phase One and Phase Two Environmental Site Assessments, excess soil management activities, and construction-phase environmental services. He brings a strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and applies a careful, methodical approach to reviewing data, interpreting results, and ensuring work is completed in accordance with applicable standards and best practices.
Irfan is recognized for his strong attention to detail and thorough approach to technical review, helping ensure consistency, accuracy, and defensibility across project deliverables. He works closely with project managers and field staff to provide practical engineering input and clear regulatory direction, supporting both internal teams and client objectives.
In addition to his technical expertise, Irfan is outgoing, approachable, and highly collaborative. He is a positive presence within the NSSL team and is already proving to be a strong mentor for junior staff, taking the time to support professional development, knowledge sharing, and quality-focused work habits.
